Joey Fever is the new rising star on the Swedish reggae/dancehall/hiphop scene! Coming out of Stockholm, has teamed up with the London based reggae label LockDown Productions,to work on his long awaited debut LP.
Joey started performing on soundsystems back in 1998,and headed the group Collision during 2003-2006. He began his solo career in 2006 with a collaboration with Pleasure Beat records. The result was the single “Youths Dem Rise”on the Majestic riddim. The single got major attention on college radio stations and from there on Joey’s was present at every dancehall / club all over sweden. He kicked back for a while to write new songs. In the summer of 2008,Swedish producer Partillo (of Swingkids records) released Joey’s “Sweetness”on the “Högre Standard I &II”(Higher Standard) compilation. The tune has become a bonafide club hit and also has received heavy rotation on radio.
A testimony to Joey’s musical versatility,2009′s “Tell It To My Heart”and ”Good Looks”has been praised by many as the finest examples of Lovers reggae to ever come out of Sweden, bringing to mind tunes like Jah Cure’s “Longing For”or Collie Buddz’“Tomorrow’s Another Day”. It was released by Sweden’s reigning Dancehall king,Million Styles,on his Adonai label, and produced by Gothenburg’s finest,Kapten Röd.
Joey was already known internationally with his song „Nuh Follow Dem“ but n 2010,he worked with UK’s most saught after reggae producer,Curtis Lynch and Million Stylez on a track. The result „Young Gunz“ is still mashing up any dances all over the world! From
London to Stockholm to Berlin to New York to the world!
In winter 2010 Joey’s song „Good looks“ was released on LockDown Productions „UK FLU“ riddim selection and together with Maxi Priest’s „Bonafide love“ the best selling tune on the compilation. The song still gets major attention on radio stations all over the UK. The track is also featured on Joey’s debut LP.
